Espinaler, the historic tavern at the foot of the Nacional II road in Vilassar de Mar, already has a sister establishment in Tokyo. The company, founded in 1896 and currently in the hands of the fourth and fifth generation of the Tapias family, began exporting its canned seafood (cockles, mussels, razor clams) a couple of years ago, but it was in 2014 that the international business took off.
The Tokyo tavern has arrived ‘after two years of negotiations with a group of Japanese investors’.
